Protect Wildlands
Regional Campaigns

Rimrocks in Escalante, Utah In addition to its six national wildlands campaigns, the Sierra Club works hard to protect lands and wildlife in various regions of the country. Pick a place to learn about its natural values, and find out how you can help to keep it wild!

Lewis and Clark: Two hundred years ago, President Thomas Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the American West. Read about people, lands and wildlife they saw along the way.

Steens Mountain: In the southeast corner of Oregon lies a natural treasure unique in the beauty of its landscape, valued for its diverse ecosystems and respected for its rich cultural history. Your help is needed now to protect the Steens and surrounding areas.

Alaska's Rainforests: The Tongass and Chugach National Forests are the largest and second largest national forests in the nation. Find out what threatens these unique and fragile areas.

Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon NCA
The Sierra Club has worked for decades to obtain increased protection for the outstanding historic, wilderness, and other values on this amazing stretch of northwest Nevada. We need your help to make sure that they stay that way.

Great Coastal Places: The spectacular California coast is a great place to play, exercise, spend time with family or seek solace from our urban lives. It's also a vital, yet fragile, habitat that supports endangered species. Please help us protect it.

California Wilderness: A bold new initiative is under way to protect millions of acres as Wilderness Areas in the Golden State. Find out how you can get involved.

Yellowstone: Protections for the nation's first national park have been rolled back. Read about what the Sierra Club is doing to restore the balance to this beloved area.

Owyhee Canyonlands: In the remote expanse where the three western states of Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada converge, the Owyhee Canyonlands sprawl over nearly 9 million acres and represent one of the largest intact -- and unprotected -- desert ecosystems in the West.

Land and Water Conservation Fund: The Sierra Club Wildlands Campaign is endeavoring to take full advantage of the boost in funding for the LWCF by identifying those projects that are most important to our members. Read about how to get your special place involved.
