A Special Place
Show and tell about places in nature that were, or are, important to you. Big majestic places, or everyday places.

Who: Sandy
Where: The Woods I Grew Up In

Why: There were few kids in my Rhode Island neighborhood back in the 1950's. I would walk the few hundred feet across my yard into the woods daily to my favorite places. One being an old board years before nailed between two trees to form the world's most wonderful bench, or climb a particular oak tree almost to the top on a windy day and feel it's dance. In winter, just after dark when new snow was starting to fall, I would stand among the leafless trees, barely breathing, careful to make no sound of my own, able to hear the individual flakes tapping the naked branches. Never able to return. Condos fill this area now.
