Show and tell about places in nature that were, or are, important to you. Big majestic places, or everyday places.
Who: Dan
Where: Valentino Park
Why: Although most of the NYC harbor is inaccessible to its
citizens, there is a small beach in Red Hook that is part of Valentino
Park. If one looks beyond the daily flotsam and jetsam that washes up on
the beach, there exists a wonderful peacefulness and spaciousness that can
easily be appreciated. The vista is huge and in the distance one sees the
Statue of Liberty, Govornors Island, and downtown NYC. Lapping waves and
the occasional clang of a buoy make it an exceptional spot to unwind,
especially early in the morning.
