A ridgeline in the Great Smoky Mountains

beautiful wooded trail

Who: Darryl Lodato

Where: A ridgeline that separates the town of Maggie Valley, North Carolina from the Great Smokey Mountain National Park

Why: The pristine beauty of this mountain forest trail reaches surreal proportions in the winter time. The visual drama of the dark bare trees covered and surrounded by snow is breathtaking. This is highlighted by a profound serenity that is created by the deep, winter silence of the forest. It is truly an enchanted place.
