The spirit of the largest political demonstration ever continues to thrive!

On August 28th, thousands of people gathered in New York City for round two of the March for Women's Lives. As in Washington, DC, marchers came from near and far to protest Bush administration policies affecting millions of women around the world - policies that have taken away reproductive rights, rescinded funding for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and turned back the clock on environmental progress.

Protest in New York City

Once again, Sierra Club took part in the protests! A team of ten activists handed out over 150 green signs reading "Pro-choice, Pro-Family Planning, Pro-Environment. Dozens of fellow marchers expressed intrigue at seeing the population-environment message. As the only environmental group at the March, Sierra Club was a strong and visible presence.

It has been almost five months since the March for Women's Lives, and the voice of opposition to the Bush administration's anti-women policies continues to be loud, strong and hard to ignore!

Take a look at following organizations' current campaigns, events and websites for local and up-to-date information on how you can get involved and keep the energy of the March for Women's Lives going!
