Wal-Mart Decides to Stock the Morning After Pill

On March 3rd, Wal-Mart reversed its discriminatory policy against stocking the "morning-after" pill! Starting March 20th, its pharmacies will start filling women’s prescriptions for Plan B contraceptives.

The morning-after pill, also known as emergency contraception (EC), has the potential to reduce the rate of unintended pregnancy, yet most people do not know about it or don't have access to accurate information about it.

This decision is a step in the right direction for women's health. However, Wal-Mart also said it would allow pharmacists to refuse to fill these prescriptions if they personally oppose birth control -- making it possible for women to lose access to this legally prescribed medication due to a pharmacist's personal beliefs.

Take Action!
Make sure Wal-Mart keeps its promise to stock EC in its pharmacies. Get involved with the Back up Your Birth Control Day of Activism.
