As passed, this bill would allow the Homeland Security Department Secretary to exempt the agency from all federal, state and local environmental laws when constructing walls, fences, roads and other barriers along U.S. Borders.
Status
The House adopted H.R. 418 on February 10, 2005. There was no Senate companion bill. Instead, by a resolution this bill was appended to HR1268, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief. HR1268 became Public Law 109-13 on 5/11/2005.
